After one crazy year, it’s time for the Annual STELLAR™ Recap. Not only will this recap take us down memory lane on a year in fashion, but it also provides insight on the next phenomenal year in fashion. Although there are a TON of trends that we can go through which made this fashion year amazing, we chose 7 that are unforgettable.

In this post, you’ll reminisce on the great fashion year of 2024, learn why the trends lasted as long as they did and if they’re still lasting… why. That being said, before we start, make your own predictions on the most notable trends in fashion this year. Did you participate in any trends? Will you be in the upcoming year? Let’s jump right into it.

This post is all about 2024 Fashion Trends.

STELLAR™ 2024 Fashion Recap

1. Bows, Bows, and Bows

Our inner princess has taken over this year in the form of bows. “Where were they?” You might ask. Hair, bags, clothes, EVERYWHERE. Although the trend was absolutely amazing while it lasted, it did seem to burn out rather fast because bows stopped being worn in an intentional type of way and more of a “grab and go” type of way. We hope to see bows make a comeback and we know that bows can be high-class fashion with brands like Sandy Liang and Minju Kim.

2. Ballet-inspired Shoes

Alongside bows to help us nurture our inner child, here along come ballet-inspired footwear to remind us of the ballerina that we never got to be. It’s interesting to see this shift in footwear from masculine to feminine as one of the most prominent trends last year was loafers. Although most footwear brands are now making ballet-inspired footwear, it’s safe to say that the brand responsible for originating this trend is Miu Miu. Ballet-inspired footwear can also be found at Jeffrey Campbell. It’s also safe to say that this trend has also heavily influenced another trend (which is not on this list) which is the mary-janes. The daintiness and “soft-like” footwear eventually turned into the Mary Jane so it’s only notable to include the originator on this list.

3. Office Siren

Taking a complete 180 from the daintiness and girliness of bows and ballet is the Office Siren. We all know that this trend was made popular by the fashion marvel herself: Bella Hadid. We all know that Bella Hadid always has an incredible influence on fashion trends, and this trend was no exception. Out of this trend came pointed heels and Bayonetta glasses which are still a trend. The powersuits have made every girl want to be a boss woman while hating our jobs. Too much? Maybe. But all this to say that this trend has made work fun again.

4. Over-accessorizing bags

Surprisingly enough, this trend did not just appear this year. This trend is actually originated by the lady who Birkin is named after, Jane Birkin. Jane has always been known for customizing and using her Birkins to their fullest capacity which was always seen as “odd” because it’s such a high-class purse. This year, the trend has not only appeared but been applied to numerous bags, those including Louis Vuitton and Prada. This is such a fun trend to easily DIY in order to make a bag more personable.

5. Bubble skirts

Bubble skirts have taken this year by storm. Not only were they styled femininely (using some of the trends above), but they were also styled masculinely using some of the trends that took last year by storm: blazers and loafers. This trend has shown to be very versatile and NOT burnt out (I’m looking at you bows). Our favorite way this trend has been styled is of course masculinely because bubble skirts and feminine. Mixing and matching feminine and masculine clothing articles is one of the easiest ways to dress better. This is one of the most prominent 2024 fashion trends.

6. Oversized Blazers

Speaking of last year’s trends, blazers. Not only were blazers in this year, Oversized Blazers were in this year. Our favorite way oversized blazers have been styled (as mentioned previously) is with a feminine touch since oversized blazers are double-masculine. (Both “oversized” clothing and “blazers” are inherently masculine) To add, another trend that has paired extremely well with this trend is the suit tie tied into a bow. It’s one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to level up a blazer. It has the perfect touch of femininity and masculinity which is perfect. Nevertheless, back to the blazers. The wool and plaid blazers have been the most receptive, trendiest, and most high-class blazers that we’ve seen. You can find these types of blazers the easiest by thrifting or ZARA.

7. Motorcycle Boots

Last but not least, the boots of an era. Yes, we all saw you guys at Coachella wearing these boots with the cutest daintiest mini dresses. Although this trend was amazing and definitely used our favorite rule of mixing masculine and feminine clothing, it became washed out almost immediately. It was great until our favorite influencers started wearing them and every local superstore started carrying low-quality dupes of this chic trend. Nevertheless, its memory remains. We think that this trend can become prevalent again, but it has to be far after everyone has already donated their boots to Goodwill. If or when this trend becomes a trend again, the store that I’ve seen with the best looking boots is Steve Madden.

In conclusion… What a great 2024 for fashion trends! It has shown us great lessons when it comes to micro-trends and when it comes to finding one’s personal style. All-in-all, be inspired! Although we don’t quite yet know what this means for the 2025 fashion year, we hope that the trends last longer and still show great creativity!

That being said… Happy New Years!
